MEDIA RELEASE – HARVESTERS IN PERTH ACTIVATION

GOING WITH THE GRAIN: HUGE HARVESTERS HERALD FUTURE OF FARMING

Dowerin Machinery Field Days (Field Days) is set to harvest Perth’s attention with a spectacular activation celebrating all things machinery innovation and agriculture tech.

Tasked with Growing Industry, Seeding Connections, Cultivating Community for WA’s agriculture industry, the Field Days is bringing Dowerin downtown – literally – with a procession of five combine harvesters descending on Langley Park showcasing an important element that is driving WA’s grain industry.

The activation will feature dynamic driving formations representing five global brands filmed on Langley Park, followed by a static display of the massive machines.

For the uninitiated, the Dowerin Machinery Field Days is an iconic event on the Australian regional calendar, bringing together the full agriculture supply chain from agribusiness, to machinery, equipment, livestock, and professional services.

Dowerin Machinery Field Days General Manager Danielle Green said the activation will be an opportunity to highlight the significance of the sector to the everyday lives of Western Australians, as well as showcase the technology and innovation powering the grainbelt.

“For six decades the Field Days has showcased the latest international farm machinery along with homemade innovations that are world leading in their designs. Today’s farm machinery combines advanced engineering and sophisticated ag tech to drive efficiency and productivity to levels even recently thought to be unachievable,” Danielle said.

“What better way to start the celebrations in our milestone year than with this magnificent display of mighty machines. This display will showcase global brands including Case IH, CLAAS, Fendt, John Deere, and New Holland, and represent the tools and technologies driving the future of farming.

“As you can imagine, organising five colossal combine harvesters to get to the centre of Perth is no mean feat. We’re grateful to our valued exhibitors and dealerships who help make this happen: Boekeman Machinery, CLAAS Harvest Centre, Agwest Machinery, AFGRI Equipment and McIntosh & Son.”

Event partner CBH Group Chief Executive Officer Ben Macnamara said showcasing the scale and innovation of the agricultural sector was vital to ensuring the general public has a good understanding of the industry and what it contributes to the great State of Western Australia.

“Grain-growing communities are at the heart of CBH and we are proud to actively support their vitality and long-term sustainability,” Ben said.

“Western Australia’s grain industry is one of the country’s most important agricultural sectors, and we are proud to operate a world class, efficient grain supply chain for the benefit of Western Australia’s grain growers.

“Unlocking and promoting new technologies – like those on display in the harvesters – is vital to achieving the ambitious Treasury target for the Australian agricultural sector to reach $100 billion by 2030,” he said.

“The other critical piece of this conversation, of course, is people. From the more than 1,800 seasonal workers we recruit annually to help receive WA’s grain harvest at CBH receival sites, to bringing together agribusiness leaders, Field Days partners, members of parliament and media at this activation, CBH is proud to support the people powering the agricultural industry.”

Field Days Partner and agribusiness legal specialists Bennett also has strong ties to the regions with many staff raised on the land, and Managing Principal Nathan Ebbs said the firm welcomed the opportunity to support the initiative with an invitation-only sundowner to be attended by key ag advocates.

“The activation serves as more than just a display of farm machinery; it symbolises the interconnectedness of rural and urban communities,” Nathan said.

“The event will offer an opportunity for the public to witness the harvesters in real life and gain a deeper understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in our everyday lives. It’s a privilege to help champion the sector on which we all rely to feed our families and our future.”

A public viewing area will be available on Thursday 20 June from Noon to 5pm, offering city workers and residents the chance to experience the excitement of harvest season.
